Selling, buying, moaning

It's that time of the year again. After spending my D90 money on other stuff last spring, I'm back to longing for it. It started with a plea for autofocus after wasting many shots with my 50mm, and ended up with me frustrated at the poor ISO handling of the D40 this afternoon. While I did capture some beautiful pictures during the commercial shooting, I find them a little grainy, slightly out of focus. Good enough for what they wanted, but still, I hate not being able to give my employers the best I can. So here we are. I want a D90. The 50D was a rough contender, but while it's a bit better at low ISO, the D90 handles it much more smoothly, plus the video mode is interesting, coming from a film production background. I'll most likely sell my D40 online so I won't have to pay full price for the D90.

Okay, yeah, I want a D300, but I don't know if it's worth shelling out 300$ more for it. At that price, I'd hold off for a full frame camera or an old MF set.

Any thoughts on the D90 or 50D?
